New Tech News
Paradise of the Pacific Homecoming dance tickets are now on sale. Tickets are only $10. You can purchase them with Ms. Lujano. Make sure you have no Fines, no parking tickets and be in good academic standing (2.0 and above and no F’s). Guest passes are available in the office, they are due thursday 10/26 at 3PM. NO EXCEPTIONS. SEA you there!!

There are several colleges who have scheduled visits for October.  Please come to the Attendance Office to view the list of colleges and to sign-up to attend any of the presentations.  You must sign-up in order to attend.

Attention students and staff. There is a New Tech school in Napa that may be in danger due to the recent fires. CCNTH is around today thanks to the New Tech in Napa. Where the community is located they are going through a natural disaster, the fire is destroying homes, and the school had to evacuate. We would like to help them through this tough time and have a toiletries drive seeing as they had to evacuate Please bring: toiletries, non perishable food and clothes.

The winning advisory gets pizza and the second place gets donuts

Tomorrow is the last day to submit your Storybook Pumpkin in the library.  Dress a pumpkin up as your favorite book character to win prizes such as movie passes and free food!  Stop by the library for more information and complete rules.

Clubs and Classes     
The Salazar Snack Shack is open today after school, come by room 908 to see our great selection of snacks!

Yearbook is looking for new members!  Get more info from Sam Martino or attend the next Yearbook meeting which will be NEXT Friday at lunch in room 916.

If you are interested in joining the new Interact Club, come to an informational meeting on NEXT Thursday, October 26th at lunch. We would love to have you come and eat pizza with us! Come to room 916 at lunch on October 26th. If you can't make the meeting just talk to Ms. Weiss to learn more.  Interact is a student led club that is part of Rotary International, a highly ranked and rated non-profit, mostly known for helping to eradicate polio in the world. Interact has more than 20,000 clubs in secondary schools across the world. Join with them and make a real difference in the world.  

Seniors!  Did you hear that you all just got a $1,000 scholarship?  Yes, that's right, Cuesta College is offering all seniors in SLO County FREE college for a year! Learn more about the Cuesta Promise Scholarship and more about Cuesta at Cuesta Promise Day on Friday, October 20th, from 9:00 - 1:30.  There will be tours, exhibits of Cuesta programs and classes, music, a free lunch, and prize giveaways!

Community Service
Nipomo Recreation is looking for volunteer youth basketball coaches for their league this season.  Come out and connect with the youth of Nipomo and have fun doing it.  Practices are set by you the coach and are typically 1 hour a day 2x a week.  Games range from Monday-Saturday for 45 minutes.  Season starts Nov. 13 and ends in February.  You will absolutely love this community service. Contact Jeff Long at 929-5437 or come see him in person at the Nipomo Rec office that is located on the NHS campus in the gym lobby.


Boys Soccer Tryouts will take place October 23, 24, and 25.  Yes, come to all three days.  Tryouts will be 4pm - 6pm on each of these three days.  NHS Fields behind Softball Field.  Reminder that you must have a valid physical on file and have completed Family ID registration in order to tryout.

CREATIVE MEDIA ARTS 10/26 & 10/27: Panelists are needed for our upcoming Photography Critique on October 26th & 27th.  Students are showcasing their first Best Picture of the Year, and we need participants from the outside to give them feedback and to select the best pictures out of the class.
